Garden City, NY - During a two meet home stand against Montclair State University and William Patterson University, Adelphi men's swimming remained undefeated, improving their record to 6-0, while the women's team were handed their first and second losses of the season, dropping to 4-2 overall. The Panthers began the weekend's competition against Montclair University, with both men and women seeing standout performances. The men opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay followed by a first and second place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle by Jason Yochim and Tory Cozzi. Kristina Shine crossed the finish line first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.2. Zachary Terzano posted 49.4 in 100-yard freestyle, over three seconds better then the second place finisher. Shine on the women's side was able to come back in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:00 for her second win of the meet. The men finished the meet out with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:24.12. When the pool water settled, the men won 67-54 and the women were defeated 43-77. Two days later the Panthers returned to Historic Woodruff Hall to host William Patterson University. The men began the meet in similar fashion, winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:46.59. Brendan Berry continued the men's success with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:28.91. In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Caylee Squillante was able to reach the wall first in a time of 27.06. The duo of Alex Griffith and Brad Meaney were able to claim spots one and two respectively in the 200-yard IM. In similar fashion, the team of Charlie Castillo and Andrew Meditz went one-two in the 100-yard breaststroke in times of 1:03.76 and 1:04.04. Both the men and women's team closed with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay to post final scores of 59-36 and 35-59 The Men's team will return to action January 17, when they take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the women's squad will swim again on the 19th when the men's squad to take on Bryant University. |
