DURHAM, N.C. -- Five different Duke women's and men's tennis players earned honors on Tuesday as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its All-America squads for the 2001-02 season.

Three Blue Devil women's tennis players earned accolades-- Kelly McCain, Amanda Johnson and Hillary Adams, while Phillip King and Michael Yani earned honors for the men's team.

Freshman Kelly McCain earned All-America in both singles and doubles, after registering a 32-8 singles mark and 25-14 doubles ledger. She advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Individual Doubles competition along with Hillary Adams before falling to Lauren Fisher and Megan Bradley (6-7, 6-4, 2-6) of UCLA. The honor for McCain and Adams is the first of their careers. Sophomore Amanda Johnson earned All-America for the second consecutive year, after turning in a 25-8 singles record. She finished the season ranked tied for 20th in singles.

Duke's doubles tandem of King/Yani advanced to the NCAA Individual Doubles semifinals before falling to David Martin and Scott Lipsky (6-7, 3-6) of Stanford. The duo finished the season with an 18-11 mark. The All-America honor for King is the second consecutive for the sophomore, while it marks the first of his career for Yani. King, ranked 13th in the final singles poll, also received All-America honors for his stellar singles season (20-7 record).
