MALIBU, CALIF. -
Two Duke women's tennis singles players and one
doubles team will kick off action in the individual competition of the
NCAA Championships on Monday in Malibu, Calif. No. 12 ranked Megan
Miller and No. 37 Kathy Sell will play in the singles bracket, while the
doubles team of No. 21 Erica Biro and Brooke Siebel will also play at
host Pepperdine University.
Miller (Palm City, Fla.) will go up against No. 47 Annica Cooper of
UCLA and Sell (Moorestown, N.J.) will take on No. 32 Keiko Tokuda of
Stanford. Miller is seeded No. 8 and has posted a 24-14 record in her
junior season and Sell has recorded a 33-15 mark.
This marks the second time Miller has received an invitation to
participate in the NCAA singles competition, while it is the first time
for Sell.
Duke's doubles duo of Biro (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Siebel (Ross, Calif.)
have the task of going up against the No. 4 Stanford team of Teryn
Ashley and Marissa Irvin, which is seeded No. 1. The sophomore/senior
pair for Duke have recorded a 20-10 record this season.
