LOS ANGELES (AP) - When UCLA tried to shut down Duke's inside game, the Blue Devils did their damage from the outside.

Georgia Schweitzer scored 18 of her 22 points in the second half as 17th-ranked Duke overcame a 16-point deficit to beat No. 9 UCLA 85-80 Monday night.

Schweitzer was 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, as the Blue Devils (9-4) won for the eighth time in their last nine games.

"Someone had to step up. I was happy I was able to do it," Schweitzer said. "We got down early, but we hung in there and were able to come back."

Schweitzer scored 16 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the Blue Devils ahead 68-61.

"Georgia gave us exactly what we needed tonight," said Duke coach Gail Goestenkors. "We really started hitting the outside shots when our inside players started getting double-teamed. We needed someone to take charge with our outside shooting. She was the one who did it."

Peppi Browne sealed the victory by completing a three-point play that put Duke ahead 83-78 with 43 seconds left.

"Give Duke some credit. They answered back when they were down," said UCLA coach Kathy Olivier. "They started hitting their shots and we were still pressing a little bit. ... They hit a couple shots at the end and that was the difference."

LaCresha Flannigan scored 15 points for UCLA (7-4), which lost for only the second time in its last nine games. Erica Gomez and Maylana Martin added 14 points each for the Bruins, while Janae Hubbard had 11 points and nine rebounds.

Rochelle Parent scored 13 points for Duke. Browne and Michele VanGorp scored 11 apiece.

Duke jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first three minutes, but UCLA then went on a 22-4 run to take a 26-15 lead. UCLA's biggest lead was 33-17 with 7:25 remaining in the half.

However, the Blue Devils rallied to cut UCLA's margin to 44-42 at halftime.
