![]() Brandon York and Jake Stork Advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Junior Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) and redshirt-sophomore Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.) both advance to the second round of the championship brackets Thursday at the NCAA wrestling tournament in Iowa City, Iowa. Two other Maryland wrestlers, juniors Mark Mansueto (West Chester, Pa.) and Josh Weidman (Hershey, Pa.) were each knocked out in the first round and will compete in wrestle-backs. York won his 30th match of the season today when he downed Cemtral Michigan's Jordan Webster to advance to the second round at 133. York will next face the No. 2 seed, Johnny Thompson from Oklahoma State. Thompson won by a major 17-3 decision in the first round. Stork continues his streak at 184 by recording his 13th pin on the season, a team-high, when he pinned Seton Hall's John Garrigues in :25 in the first round. He will meet No. 3 seed Daniel Cormier from Oklahoma State in the second round. Mansueto dropped his first-round match to the No. 9 seed, Iowa State's Zach Roberson, by a 4-2 decision. He will square off against Ryan Egan from Northern Iowa in the first-round of consolations. Weidman drew the No. 11 seed, Edinboro's Ben Boozer, in the first round. Boozer defeated Weidman 15-1. Weidman will next face Northern Iowa's Nate Lawrenz. Matches will resume at 6:30 p.m. for the second session.
