![]() Wolfpack Wrestlers Down Old Dominion
January 5, 1999 RALEIGH, N.C. - Kevin Boross won a tense 2-1 decision at 174 pounds, the final bout of the evening, to seal NC State's 18-12 wrestling victory Tuesday evening over Old Dominion at Reynolds Coliseum. Boross, now 9-2 on the season, defeated Old Dominion's Josh Fannon with an escape and a point for riding time to improve the Wolfpack to 2-0 in dual matches this season. ODU fell to 0-4 Boross's final-match win ended a string of three straight wins by ODU wrestlers to cut the Wolfpack's lead from 15-3 to 15-12 heading into the final match. The biggest win in the Monarchs' late run was Jeff Rusak's 10-8 overtime win over NC State's Pierre Pryor at 157. Rusak and Pryor both entered the match with 7-2 records. The Wolfpack won five of the first six matches to build the 15-3 lead, including a wild 14-9 decision by 12th-ranked Tommy Davis over Chris Blair at 141, and a 3-2 win by 18th-ranked Lee Carroll over Paul Jimenez at 125. Davis improved to 8-1 on the season while Carroll raised his record to 7-2. Greg Bauer won 7-2 over Paul Jimenez at 133 to improve to 8-2 on the season.
