![]() NC State Smashes Florida Atlantic, 6-1.
February 22, 1999 BOCA RATON, Fla. - NC State won five of six singles matches and two of three double matches to defeat Florida Atlantic, 6-1, in Boca Raton this past weekend. Roberto Bracone remained undefeated in singles play this season, defeating Daniel Dauber 6-2, 6-3. Eric Jackson, Devang Desai and Jeff Smith also won in straight sets for the Wolfpack. Jackson defeated Martin Giers at No. 2, 6-7, 6-3. Desai beat Fabio Freeman, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5, while Smith beat Ray Shimony at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1. In doubles play, Jackson and Desai defeated Dauber and Ludovic Pain, 9-8. Bracone and Shaun Thomas also won their doubles match, beating Giers and Faerman, 8-3. NC State improves its record to 4-1 overall. Its next two matches are Feb. 27, when they host Appalachian State and High Point in a double-header at the Wolfpack Tennis Complex.
