![]() NC State Slams UNC-Charlotte, 5-2
January 30, 1999 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - NC State recorded its second win of the 1999 season in the second match of a double-header in Winston-Salem this afternoon, defeating UNC-Charlotte 5-2.
The Wolfpack posted four wins in singles play. Roberto Bracone and Keith Salmon beat the 49ers' Jan Pollmueller and Aleksandar Parc, respectively, in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-3. Shaun Thomas and Jeff Smith also won, going three sets. Thomas defeated Jasper Hulsebosch 6-2, 2-6, 6-0, and Smith beat Gian-Carl Zeoli 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. In doubles play, Jackson teamed with Devang Desai to beat Pollmueller/Jonsson 8-5, while his double partner from the day's first match, Bracone, teamed with Thomas to beat Parc/Hulsebosch 8-6. Salmon and Bryan Cowman also won at No. 3 doubles, beating Kuchma and Zeoli 8-6. NC State is off until Feb. 10, when they compete against South Carolina on the road. The Wolfpack's first home match of the season is Feb. 27, when they host Appalachian State and High Point in another double-header.
