Greensboro, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Men's Cross Country Team was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The 54-member team was voted by the nine league institutions as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.

NC State led all league schools with 13 members on the Golden Anniversary team while North Carolina was second with 12 honorees. Clemson had 10 players selected, followed by Wake Forest (7), Duke (6), Maryland (3), Virginia (2), and Georgia Tech with one.

Among those honored from Wake Forest includes current team member, senior Nathan Sisco. Sisco won the 2001 ACC Cross Country Championship and the ACC Championships in the Mile Run, Distance Medley Relay and outdoors in the 1,500m.

Other Demon Deacon honorees include Stuart Burham, Jon Hume, Ron Rick, Jon Russell, Ben Schoonever and Nolan Swanson.

Burham (1990-1993) was a three-time All-ACC selection in cross country and the only Demon Deacon to compete in four NCAA Championships. Hume (1986-1989) was a cross country All-American, a two-time All-ACC selection in cross country and also earned All-ACC honors in indoor and outdoor track.

Rick, who ran from 1982-1985, is noted for being Wakeˇ¦s only four-time All-ACC selection in cross country. Russell (1993-1996) earned All-American honors and was a two-time All-ACC selection in cross country. He also was honored in track, becoming a four-time All-ACC selection, winning ACC Championships in the indoor 3,000m, Distance Medley Relay and the outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m.

Schoonover earned All-American status and was a two-time All-ACC selection in cross country. He also earned All-ACC honors twice in indoor track. Swanson competed between 1994 and 1997, earning All-ACC honors three times and winning the 1996 ACC Championships. He also had a glorious career in track, earning All-American honors in the 10,000m and winning six ACC Championships. Swanson was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the 1999 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
