BRONX, New York - Senior Monique Berry (Andover, Conn.) placed 12th as the University of Maryland women's cross country team finished third at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortland Park in New York Saturday.

Berry posted her lowest time of the season, finishing the 5K race in 18:55.40. Other top finishers for the Maryland women included junior Kristin Lubas (York, Pa.), who placed 17th in 19:08.50 and sophomore Lorna Dorland (Rockland, Maine), who placed 18th in 19:10.40. Both times were season-lows for Lubas and Dorland.

The Maryland men finished ninth, led by sophomore Francis Ciganek (Chestertown, Md.). Rounding out Maryland's top-three finishers were freshman Matt Adami (Mount Airy, Md.)and junior Mike Prada (Fulton, Md.). All three represented the men's team at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional last week.

At the conclusion of head coach Trent Sanderson's inaugural season, both the men's and women's cross country teams have showed considerable improvement in their times.
