Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Georgia Tech men's and women's cross country teams opened their season with a third and fourth place finish, respectively, on Friday at the Tennessee-Chattanooga Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The men's team, which finished with 69 points, was led by sophomore Joey Zins (Atlanta, Ga., Marist H.S.) who placed eighth in a time of 15:29. Senior Kevin Betts (Eufaula, Ga.) finished 11th in a time of 15:36 for the Yellow Jackets.
The women's team, which ended the day with 89 points, was paced by senior Judy Johnson (Snellville, Ga., South Gwinnett H.S.) who finished seventh in a time of 11:42. Redshirt-freshman Sara Pardue of Aurora, Co., placed 16th with a time of 12:09.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 in the Georgia State Invitational, which is being hosted by Georgia State.
