Tallahassee, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team has another representative at the IAAF World Championships. Senior All-American Dorian Scott (Springfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) won the Jamaica National Shot Put Championships with a throw of 61'4" (18.68m) at the event held in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday, June 25, 2005.

The ACC Shot Put Champion secured a berth at the world meet taking place from August 6-14, 2005 in Helsinki, Finland. Scott has won the title the last three seasons, with the 2005 mark being his farthest.

He joins former Seminole Brian Dzingai (Zimbabwe) and current standout Walter Dix (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs), who earned a spot in the 4x100m relay pool for the United States, representing Florida State at the championships meet.
