GREENSBORO, N.C. - Scott Baker and Holly Mills from Florida State have been named recipients of the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week accolades for the week ending November 26.
Baker, the second student-athlete to collect the men's award twice this season, posted a pair of first-place finishes and a runner-up showing at then-ranked No. 6 Florida last Tuesday. The junior from Lake Mary, Fla., won both the 50 and 100 freestyle events, touching in at 20.29 and 44.78, respectively. He also swam on the 400 medley relay team that placed second with a time of 3:19.72 for the second-fastest mark in the ACC this year.
The first Seminole to earn the women's honor this season, Mills collected a pair of NCAA "B" qualifying marks against then-ranked No. 6 Florida. The freshman from Ruislip, Middlesex, England, placed second in both the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke events with times of 1:48.59 and 1:59.01, respectively. Both times are currently the third-best in the ACC. The league weekly award is also a career first for Mills.
Florida State will return to the pool January 3, 2008, when the Seminoles head to Naples, Fla., for a meeting with Penn State at a neutral site.
