Two Deacons Named to All-ACC Field Hockey Team
Marchell, Nitka earn conference honors.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two Demon Deacons were selected to the 1998 All-ACC Field Hockey team, Amy Marchell and Meaghan Nitka. It was a first-time selction for both players.
Junior Meaghan Nitka (Holmdel, NJ) led the ACC in save percentage at .848 and was second in goals against average, 1.27. This season Nitka helped the Deacons pitch seven shutouts in 11 victories, while allowing only 26 goals on the season.
Senior Amy Marchell (Hopewell Junction, NY) was selected to the all-conference team as a midfielder. Marchell finished third on the team in points with 17 and tied for third with six goals.
Nitka started all 20 games this season, while Marchell started all 19 games that she participated.
The Deacons completed the season with a record of 11-9 overall and 1-3 in the ACC. Wake Forest was ranked 20th in the final STX/NFHCA Poll of the season.
