Simon Named to Division I South Senior All-Star Team
Field Hockey readies for ACC Tournament first round.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest senior Kelly Simon (Wall, NJ) has been named to the 1998 NFCHA Division I South Senior All-Star team. The South squad will take on the North team on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the University of Pennsylvania. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Simon is a former All-ACC selection and two-time all-regional choice. She is tied for fourth on the Wake Forest all-time list for assists with 17. She currently leads the Deacons with three defensive saves this season. Simon has scored 12 goals during her four years at Wake Forest, including five this season. She is one of three Deacons to hand out five assists this year, tied for third on the team. A four-year starter, Simon has played in 71 games, starting 69 times.
The Deacons are preparing to take on Duke in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 5 in Charlottesville, Va. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on the campus of the University of Virginia. Wake Forest finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-8 and 1-3 in the ACC. The Deacons are ranked 20th in the final STX/NFCHA poll of the season.
