Deacons Add Six to 1999 Field Hockey Roster
Five freshmen, one transfer make up next years class.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey head coach Jennifer
Averill announced the signing of six players this afternoon, five freshmen
to be and one transfer. Jemima Cameron is transferring to Wake after
playing one season at Southwest Missouri State. The Deacs incoming Class
of 2003 includes: Heather Aughinbaugh, Elizabeth Hynes, Marlena Reese,
Lynne Shenk, and Maria Whitehead.
Cameron, originally from Australia, was the 1998 Northern Pacific
Field Hockey Conference Rookie-of-the-Year. She scored 21 goals and 53
points as a freshman at SMS last season.
Aughinbaugh and Whitehead both hale from Pennsylvania. Each
participated in the National Futures Tournament. Aughinbaugh was also an
all-state performer, while Whitehead was a four-time first team
all-conference selection.
As a senior Elizabeth Hynes was named second team all-state in
Delaware. She was a three time all-conference choice, while lettering in
soccer, swimming and track and field.
Reese was a three year starter at The Hockaday School for Girls in
Dallas, Texas. She served as team captain as a junior and senior, while
being selected to the conference all-star team both seasons.
Lynne Shenk, born in Des Moines, Iowa, is the third member of the
class of 2003 to come to Wake via Pennsylvania. Shenk is a 1998 STX/NFHCA
second team All-America leading her team to the PIAA 3-A state title. She
was also an all-state pick in 1997 and 1998.
