White finished his senior year fifth in the country in all-purpose yardage.
Jan. 7, 2002 LOGAN, Utah - Emmett White, who finished his career at Utah State as the fifth leading rusher in school history with 2,850 yards, will compete in the 77th annual East-West Shrine game to be played on Sat., Jan. 12, 2002 in Pacific Bell Stadium in San Francisco, Calif. The game will be broadcast by ESPN2 beginning at 11:30 (MST). White, a 5-11, 196-pound running back from Ogden, Utah concluded his career at Utah State as the most prolific all-purpose player in school history. This past season, White finished fifth in the country in all-purpose yards (183.1), 11th in rushing (123.7), 19th in scoring (8.73), 83rd in punt returns (7.81), and 85th in receptions (4.36). Those 4.36 receptions per game ranked sixth in the country among running backs. White was named the Independent Player of the Year by Collegefootballnews.com and the Football News Magazine. White was also named the Independent offensive player of the year and a first-team all-Independent selection. He was also on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award given to the nation's top running back. White becomes the 24th Aggie to participate in the East-West Shrine game over the past 65 years and the third running back to play in the game in the past six years joining Abu Wilson (1997) and Demario Brown (2000). |
