LOGAN, Utah - Shauni Fluckiger (Providence, Utah), a junior outside hitter on Utah State's volleyball team was today named the Big West Conference Player of the Week after leading the Aggies to a pair of wins over No. 12 Pacific and Cal State Northridge at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum this past weekend. It is the first time in her career that she has received the award.

Fluckiger had a career-match against No. 12 Pacific, leading the Aggies to a five-game win, as she posted career-highs in kills (23), digs (17), and blocks (5) against the Tigers and hit .315 in the match. Two nights later against Northridge, Fluckiger had eight kills and eight digs in USU's three-game win over the Matadors. For the weekend, she hit. 293 and averaged 3.88 kills, 3.13 digs, and 0.63 blocks per game.

It is the second time in the past three weeks that Utah State has received player of the week honors from the Big West Conference, as senior Michelle Matheson (Moreno Valley, Calif.) won the award on Oct. 1. USU has now garnered five player of the week honors in the past two seasons after receiving just two in the first nine years as a member of the Big West.

Utah State is 9-4 on the season, ranked 29th in the country, and in second-place in the Big West Conference with a 6-1 record, just one game out of first. The Aggies have won its last five matches.
