FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost its first match of the season on Saturday night to No. 14 Colorado State at the University Park Holiday Inn Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., in four games (22-30, 31-29, 15-30, 30-21) to drop to 2-1 on the season.

Utah State never got going offensively against the Rams as the Aggies hit just .025 in the first game while CSU hit .306. USU had a little success in the second game, hitting .174 and holding the Rams to a .167 hitting percentage en route to the two-point win. In the final two games, USU hit a negative .133 and a negative .057.

Sophomore middle blocker Erin Cartwright (Hyrum, Utah) paced the Aggie attack with 16 kills, while senior setter Chelsi Neves (Otto, Wyo.) had a team-high 12 digs to go along with three blocks, three kills and 33 assists. Both Neves and Cartwright were named to the all-tournament team.

As a team, Utah State hit just .006 in the match, while Colorado State hit .250. USU did manage to record 10 team blocks in the contest, but the taller CSU squad notched 21 team blocks.

Utah State will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 6 in Honolulu, Hawai'i against the University of Hawai'i in the Hawai'i tournament. The Aggies will also face Cincinnati and USC during the three-day event.
