Utah’s Gurr Named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Freshman forward nets two goals in weekend split.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Utah freshman forward Shauna Gurr has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Gurr scored a goal in both matches over the weekend as the Utes split their two home matches, defeating Weber State 3-0 and falling 2-1 to SMU in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gurr, of Wood Cross, Utah (Wood Cross High School), has played in all 11 matches this season and has four goals. Her first goal of the weekend came against Weber State. Gurr scored in the 73rd minute to put the Utes up 2-0. Utah went on to win the match 3-0. In the SMU match, she netted a goal on an indirect penalty kick at the 53:13 mark to tie the match at one-apiece. SMU though, scored a late goal in the 88th minute to pull out the 2-1 victory. The Utes are now 7-4 overall heading into the first week of conference action. Utah hosts New Mexico on Wednesday, October 6. This is the first player of the week honor for Gurr this season and the second for Utah.
