Meredith Florance
North Carolina
Meredith Florance, a soccer player from the University of North Carolina, has been named the top woman collegiate athlete in her sport. Florance, the sixth Tar Heel to win the Honda Award, led her team to a 21-3 record and the NCAA title.

A senior from Dallas, she scored five goals and had two assists in the NCAA tournament to earn tournament offensive MVP honors. Her regular season totals include 26 goals scored (including five game-winners) and eight assists for 60 points, which ranked second nationally. Additional honors for Florance include MVP of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
