  • Arizona Upsets Pac-10 Rival UCLA

    Terry
Arizona's Jason Terry drives to the basket against the pressing defense of UCLA's Rico Hines.
Jason Terry, the Pac-10 player of the year, scored 26 points in his final home game, 18 in the first half, as 13th-ranked Arizona routed No. 12 UCLA 87-70 Saturday in a game that decided second place in the conference.

Terry hit his last homecourt jumper with 1:07 to play, then took a bow and blew kisses to the capacity crowd as he left the game with 50.9 seconds to play.

Adrian Peterson scored 18 points despite missing 7:30 of the first half with an ankle injury and Oklahoma State held on at the end to beat top-seeded Texas 59-57 in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament Saturday.

Peterson hit the front end of a one-and-one free throw to give the fifth-seeded Cowboys (22-8) a two-point lead with 9 seconds to go.

Diego Guevara scored 16 points and North Carolina Charlotte earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament with a 68-59 win over Louisville on Saturday in the Conference USA tournament final.

The 49ers (22-10) nearly squandered a 19-point second half lead, but Guevara made two free throws with 12 seconds to play to help Charlotte win its first C-USA tournament in three tries. Charlotte lost to Cincinnati in last year's final and Marquette in the 1997 final.

Auburn was the best team in the Southeastern Conference during the regular season. But the SEC tournament belongs to Kentucky.

The No. 14 Wildcats, who have won two straight tournament titles and six of the last seven, moved within one victory of another championship by defeating No. 4 Auburn 69-57 in the semifinals Saturday.

For college hoops fans, this is the most wonderful time of the year, filled with talk of bubbles, buzzer-beaters, heartbreakers and more.
