Steve Richardson has covered college sports since the late 1970s. Among his major assignments have been all the major bowl games, every Final Four since 1981, the last two Summer Olympics, golf, pro basketball and football and hockey.

He has worked for both the Kansas City Star and Dallas Morning News and freelanced for several national publications. He has been the executive director of the Football Writers Association of America since 1996. This fall his first book will appear in bookstores, Ricky Williams: Dreadlocks to Ditka.

His weekly national college football column will appear each Wednesday beginning August 24, 1999, and continuing through the end of the college football season.
