Bill Hodge

Position: Executive Editor, Lead Columnist, Director of Recruiting Coverage.
Alma mater(s): Undergraduate and graduate education includes Iowa, Northern Iowa, USC

Live 40 feet from Wind & Sea Beach in LaJolla, CA. Sights/sounds of crashing surf on rocks makes a former Iowan easily forget the Mississippi River. Listening to classical music, jazz or soft music (Mariah Carey) while drinking champagne is a good way to watch sunsets. I never enjoyed walking to grade school (uphill both ways) during snowstorms with drifts 10-feet over my head.

Favorite teams: Iowa, Cubs and Bears. The Hawks are beloved throughout the nation
Favorite athlete: Michael Jordan, Chicago Bulls
Favorite TV Show: Tapes of any Iowa football game in history ... especially victories over Michigan, Ohio State or Penn State
Favorite band: Hawkeye Marching Band, who else?
Favorite sports movie: Hoosiers

Steve Mraz

Position: Content Producer
Alma mater: UNC-Chapel Hill

When Steve's not bronzing pool side or cutting a rug at numerous Gaslamp dives, the 23-year-old likes to spend time with friends trading stories about the previous night's adventures. In the summertime, it's not likely you'll find him without a thong on (thong flip-flops, that is) and a fishing pole in his hand. The former Pensacola, Fla. resident dreams of the days of jacking multiple jaws aboard the deck of the Lady Leigh. Mraz's record catch is a 40-pound dolphin (the fish, not the mammal) landed by Captain LL. Steve's turn-offs include moldy shower curtain rings, people who use coasters and chinchillas. Go Heels!!

Favorite teams: Saints, Cubs, Tar Heels
Favorite athletes: Goldberg, Dale Earnhardt, James Worthy, Antawn Jamison and Don West
Least favorite athletes: Deion Sanders, Jeff Gordon, Christian Laettner(for that matter, any Duke player past, present or deceased)
Favorite sports moment: Duke's loss to UConn in the 1999 NCAA Final. Nice skilz, Trajan.
Favorite personal sports moment: Defeating Russ and Drew in Wiffle Ball at the beach house to win free drinks. Or any Detroit/Boston RBI battle with Rentz.
Favorite TV shows: Seinfeld, Jeopardy
Favorite characters: (TV or not) Gerry Shukert, Silent Bob and Jay, Doyle, Randy and Morris.
Favorite band: Widespread Panic, The Meters
Favorite sports movie: Bad News Bears
Favorite non-sports movie: In the Company of Men

Carlo Mercaldo

Position: Content Producer.
Alma mater: Arizona State University

I came to FANSonly from Tucson, AZ by way of Tempe in August. Yes this proud ASU grad comes from the home of the UA Wildcats, but don't hold it against me. I haven't been in San Diego too long, but I'm getting used to life on the beach. Traffic is out of control, but you give and you take. I miss Tempe's Mill Avenue and Old Town Scottsdale, but I found out they have Keystone Light in San Diego too, so I'm doing alright. I dream of the day when the senior citizen retirement facility known as McKale Center falls silent as the Maroon and Gold run all over the Cats.

Favorite teams: San Francisco 49ers, Phoenix Coyotes, ASU Sun Devils, AZ Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns
Favorite athletes: Joe Montana, Jake Plummer
Least favorite athlete: Deion Sanders
Favorite sports moment: ASU 56 UA 14: Bringing down the goal posts in Arizona Stadium in 1996
Favorite TV shows: Seinfeld, Cheers
Favorite bands: Dave Matthews Band, The Samples, Blues Traveler, Britney Spears
Favorite Restaurant: The Sausage Deli and The Buffet Bar and Crock Pot in Tucson, AZ
Favorite sports movie: Bull Durham
