KINGSTON, R.I. - Former Stanford University standout guard Jamila Wideman is a member of the inaugural induction class of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.

The class will be inducted into the new hall of fame on October 4 in Keaney Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.

Wideman, who is originally from Amherst, Massachusetts and Amherst Regional High School, still ranks among Stanford's all-time top five in assists (585), steals (255) and games played (127). She was a First Team All-Pac-10 selection in 1995-96 and 1996-97, and was a Second Team Academic All-American in 1996-97.

Wideman went on to play in the WNBA for four seasons, with stops in Los Angeles (1997-98), Cleveland (1999) and Portland (2000).
