LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Women's Basketball head coach Gina Castelli announced Wednesday that Alexis Darling will transfer to Siena in the 2002-2003 academic year. After sitting out next season, Darling will be eligible to play as a junior beginning in the 2003-2004 season.

Darling (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) comes to Siena after two seasons at George Washington University. Darling played in 15 games for the Colonials last season, averaging 0.7 points and 0.7 rebounds in just under three minutes per game. In her freshman season, the 6-5 center played in 14 games.

"We are very excited to have Alexis join our program. She will provide a physical presence in the paint and should be one of the top post players in the MAAC when she begins playing in 2003," said Castelli.

In high school, Darling averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds per game and was a First-team All-Conference selection. She was also named to the Corning Leader First-Team in 1999 and 2000.

The Saints finished last season 23-7, and Siena made its second straight appearance in the postseason. The 2002-2003 Saints will return over 90 percent of their scoring and rebounding.
