COLUMBIA, Mo.- Missouri redshirt freshmen Brad Smith and C.J. Mosley have yet to accomplish anything on the field, but their performances during spring camp have caught the attention of College Football News.com Smith and Mosley have been selected to the 2002 Preseason All-Redshirt Freshman Team by the website.
Smith, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, enters the fall as the Tigers' No. 1 quarterback after a strong spring. Smith did not turn the ball over one time in three spring scrimmages that included the 2002 Black and Gold Game. He completed 12-of-21 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in the first half of the Black and Gold Game.
Mosley was a big surprise in the spring along the defensive line. He entered the spring in the best shape of his life, and then got the job done the field. He will begin fall practices listed as a starter at defensive tackle. The 6-3, 280-pounder from Ft. Leonardwood, Mo. led all defensive linemen with five tackles in the Black and Gold Game.
