FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - University of Arkansas officials and new basketball coach Stan Heath have agreed on a five-year contract that will run through the 2006-07 season, the school announced Monday.

Heath was selected in late March to replace Nolan Richardson, who was fired with one game remaining in his 17th season for making comments about the programs that were considered disparaging by university chancellor John White and athletic director Frank Broyles

Heath came to Arkansas from Kent State. In his first season there, the Golden Flashes went 30-6 and advanced to the final eight of the NCAA tournament.

Broyles said the contract "will make Coach Heath one of the highest-paid head basketball coaches in the Southeastern Conference."

The announcement, which said Heath and university all signed the contract, did not provide specifics.
