Darrell Rasner was selected in the second round by the Montreal Expos.

Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada junior pitcher, Darrell Rasner was selected in the second round of the 2002 First-Year Major League Baseball Draft today by the Montreal Expos. Rasner a 6-4, 215-pound right-handed pitcher came to Nevada as a freshman from Carson City High School in Carson City, Nev. and posted a 28-15 record in three seasons with the Wolf Pack.

Rasner set Nevada career records for wins(28), strikeouts(302) and innings pitched(341) this season. In his final start of this season he recorded his 300th career strikeout at Nevada. He also won a Pack record 14 games as a freshman in 2000 going 14-2. He has posted three of the top seven single season strikeout years in Pack history with a personal career high of 109 coming in 2002. The 109 strikeouts this season is the second only to Chad Qualls' 113 in 2000. Qualls(1999-00) a draft choice of the Houston Astros is currently playing for the Astros Double A team in Round Rock, Texas.
