The Corte Report
October 13, 1999 - Week 7 Dear Bear Fans, There is nothing quite as sweet as beating a conference rival on your home field, not to mention in front of the largest crowd ever at Nottingham Field. What a game!!! Ten lead changes, the game hanging in the balance until the final snap, it doesn't get much better than that. I have to give UNO a lot of credit. They gave us all that we could handle. I'm just glad we pulled it out in the end. Offensively, we played pretty well. At some points in the game we struggled to get things going, however. Despite these lapses we made the plays when we had to. Keith Grable had a tremendous game, 9 catches for 135 yards and 3 TD's. Tex Lonergan also continues to play well. He had another touchdown catch on Saturday. The effort of the whole team has been excellent. We just need to keep getting better every week. It sure doesn't get any easier though! Right from one big game to the next. North Dakota has an excellent football team, as displayed by their 5-0 record. They return a veteran defense that doesn't have many holes. This will be the third time we've played in the last two years. We got the best of them last year so I'm sure they'll be pumped up to play us. Grand Forks is also a tough place to play. The Sioux have tremendous support from their fans. The stands will be packed and the crowd will be rowdy. If we want to win, its going to take our best game of the year.
