Jarnagin's Journal
Oct. 27, 1999
Last week's game was a very tough one for us. We lost to CSU 24-13. Though the game was much closer than the score shows, this was still a very disappointing game. Not only did we lose a home game to our rival, we also lost our control of winning the conference. We now must have some help from other teams. The game was a very tough, physical contest, and the first half was very low-scoring. Both offenses were able to get into scoring position twice, with CSU making one field goal and missing one. Our offense also had opportunities, but missed two field goals. The score at halftime was 3-0 in favor of CSU. In the second half our defense came out fired up, and we were taking it to CSU. We almost completely shut them down, except for two plays. By a combination of us not getting a good rush, some coverage mistakes and CSU making great plays, both of those plays resulted in touchdowns. We still had a chance to drive the ball and score with about five minutes left in the game, but we threw an interception and they ran it back for a touchdown. That play put the game out of reach for us. We now have a bye week before we travel to Utah the following week. We are going to have to get refocused and get ready for the final stretch of the season. We are now going to see what this team is made of. Are we going to fold and give up, or are we going to step up and be men and finish strongly? We still have alot to play for. I'm going to do my best to get everyone ready so we still have a successful season. |
