| (11) Marshall vs. Western Michigan |
MARS 45-28 | MARS 38-20 | MARS 32-16 | MARS 48-40 | MARS 37-25 |
| Richardson says: The Thundering Herd may be bored by now. Marshall is going for its third straight Mid-American Conference title in a home game. Marshall defeated Western Michigan, 31-17, three weeks ago in one of its closer games this season. At least Marshall has something to look forward to in the Motor City Bowl if it wins this game: fresh meat. BYU would be the opponent in the bowl game. |
| (3) Nebraska vs. (12) Texas |
TEX 29-22 | NEB 28-24 | NEB 24-17 | TEX 27-23 | NEB 24-21 |
| Richardson says:Texas will go for its fourth straight victory over the Cornhuskers. If Longhorns win this game, Frank Solich may have to walk back to Lincoln. Performances of the two best quarterbacks in the league, UTs passer Major Applewhite and NU's runner, Eric Crouch, will be crucial. Indoors, loud, on artificial turf, in the state of Texas add up to. |
| (5) Florida vs. (7) Alabama |
FLA 35-29 | FLA 38-20 | FLA 19-14 | FLA 37-29 | FLA 21-13 |
| Richardson says: A rematch of one of the most thrilling games of the college season when Alabama went into overtime and won, 40-39, at The Swamp. Florida's quarterback shuffle in season-ending loss to Florida State was troubling. But it's doubtful Alabama can beat Steve Spurrier twice in one season no matter how wacky his offense looks. |
| (23) Miami vs. Temple |
MIA 55-7 | MIA 45-7 | MIA 38-10 | MIA 40-14 | MIA 42-21 |
| Richardson says: Makeup of game at the Orange Bowl canceled by the hurricane earlier. Could be a highlight film for 'Canes Santana Moss, who is one of the best receivers and return men in college football. Temple has lost eight of 10 games this season. Miami should go into the Gator Bowl with three straight victories. |
