Demos' Diary
Oct. 13, 1999 "It wasn't a happy homecoming this past Saturday for the Wyoming Cowboys. The offense came out and didn't get off to a good start. After UNLV made some big plays offensively, our offense found themselves in a hole and we knew we would need a big day to win. After a few good drives, the offense could not finish and had to settle for field goals. We went into halftime down 21-9. The offense knew we would have to finish these drives we were putting together and score touchdowns to win this game. We did that in the third quarter as we drove the field and cut the lead to 21-16. As the momentum changed, and the defense stepped it up, the offense got opportunities to take the lead, but crucial mistakes and and breakdowns did not allow us to do this. After a few big UNLV plays it was a 35-16 ballgame, but before you knew it our defense brought us back to 35-32. Once again the offense had chances to win but could not finish the ballgame. This is definitely a loss that will burn inside of us, and is one that we can learn from. Now we must get ready to play Louisiana-Monroe this Saturday.
